He's a deliverer to all who run to Him

Romans 7:24 KJV
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Apostle Paul in our opening scripture asked a question, He said; who shall deliver me from the body of this death? Earlier before this verse, he made a statement about himself; “What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I absolutely despise”. (verse 15). Paul saw himself not doing the things he wanted to do, but rather doing the things he
hated.

This was the power of the flesh at work. It was the sin living in him that was in operation. There was need for him to crucify the flesh and feed the spirit. Whenever the flesh dominates over the spirit, there are lots of problems that arise. The focus of such an individual is diverted; he/she begins to live after the flesh, which will definitely lead to destruction at the end.

A lot of people find themselves in this situation; they battle so hard to get out of it. They knew the right thing to do, but each time they try doing it, they see themselves deviating, I mean going back to their past lives, doing things they've already left; just like a dog going back to her vomit.

Are you one of such person who goes back to their vomit? Do you see yourself dancing round the circle of sin? Yes, you may be born again but there is this opposing power that takes you back to your old nature or life that you find difficult to break.

Know that Christ has made things easy by dying for you at the cross of Calvary, He has shed His blood to redeem you, also has He given an helper, a comforter -the Holy spirit, who is to help you in times of need and teach you all things. He did a marvelous work in my life when I found myself in such situation, and He is still doing many more till this very moment. Each time I pray in the spirit, negative things are being destroyed and replaced with the positive.

As a sinner or a backslider, no hope is lost, now that you are alive, you have the opportunity to surrender. Christ didn't come for the saved, but for the unsaved. No matter the level of your sins against Him, He is not angry with you, His anger is for the sin itself, so come to Him and confess your sins, acknowledge that He's your saviour, surrender your life to Him, and He will father you.

As for you who are struggling with your past life, all you need to do is to devote your time for God, focus on His ways, reduce the irrelevant activities you engage yourself in, and use that time to study and meditate on the word of God. More so, you should mind what you think about. Not all books or movies are healthy for believers, some corrupt the mind, some refresh the memories of things you once did, and thus making you go back to them.

Philippians 4:8 says; “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-11). May God help you surpass your trials and temptations in Jesus name. Amen.
